Professor Mohamed Ally visited Advanced Innovation Center for Future Education (AICFE), Beijing Normal University (BNU) in February for two days. Prof. Ally from Athabasca University is a member of Academic Advisory Board. In two days’ visit, Prof. Ally gave multiple valuable advices on academia. He believes that AICFE is an important initiative for Beijing and China. AICFE will revolutionize education in Beijing and has excellent leadership to achieve this goal. Prof. Ally participated in the discussion of the "Mobile Learning" monographic study, shared the progress of his “Future School 2030” project, and explored potential cooperation on collaborative learning and artificial intelligence.
On February 20, Prof. Ally participated in the discussion and provided guidance on the manuscript of “Mobile Learning” monographic study together with Ms. Xuanwei Ma from International Cooperation Office, Doctoral students Qi Wang, Liujie Xu, and Abdelwahed Elsafi at BNU. Mobile and Ubiquitous Learning: An International Handbook as an outcome of this study will be officially published in 2018. In the discussion , Prof. Ally communicated with doctoral students on research methods and topics, which promoted the cultivation of doctoral students so as to enhance scientific research while broadening horizon.
On February 21, AICFE interviewed Prof. Ally in order to strengthen communication and learn more on mobile learning, teacher education, and ethical consideration with our Academic Advisory Board member. Moreover, Professor Ally shared the progress of his research project Development of a Competency/Skills Profile Chart for Digital Teachers for Future Schools with Director Wei Tang and Ms. Xuanwei Ma of International Cooperation Office. The project Development of a Competency/Skills Profile Chart for Digital Teachers for Future Schools will interview scholars and in-service teachers from China, Canada and the United States to develop literacy and skills profile charts for digital teachers.
Prof. Ally stated that for future cooperation it can meet the needs of AICFE and focus on artificial intelligence, collaborative learning, and international standardization. Prof. Ally, as a member of Academic Advisory Board, not only gave academic guidance but also engaged in major research projects in person so as to lead research to high and international level. It is expected that AICFE will achieve greater progress in international cooperation, academic research, and construction under the guidance of Academic Advisory Board.
