Prof. Gregor Kennedy, the Vice-Chancellor at the University of Melbourne and Tencent Education Team visited AICFE


In the afternoon of May 25, Prof. Gregor Kennedy, the Vice-Chancellor at the University of Melbourne and delegates from Tencent Education visited AICFE to deepen understanding and discuss potential cooperation opportunities. Attendees from Tencent Education are: Director Jiefeng LI, Product Manager Jing CHEN, Engineer Pengfei QIN and Yuecheng LI. Attendees from AICFE are: Prof. Shengquan YU, the Executive Director of AICFE, Dr. Yu LU, the director of Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, etc. The communication among three sides is based on technical tools developed and academic studies conducted by AICFE.

In the communication, Smart Learning Partner, Online and Offline Teaching Service, Classroom Observation intelligent platforms are introduced by staffs at AICFE. As well as AI tutor, educational knowledge graph and applications, the guidance system of academic development planning, EEG research focus on micro-lecture learning process, domain-specific dynamic problem solving assessment, automatic assessment of short answers for biological and mathematical problems research projects.

 

While listening to the introduction of Online and Offline Teaching Service, Prof. Kennedy commented that a company in Australia runs similar platform, and university is involved to train and accredit online tutors. However, parents have concerns about children’s safety. The Online and Offline Teaching Service selecting in-service public school teachers ensures students’ safety to some extent. After the whole introduction, Prof. Kennedy stated that the research is diverse and impressive. There are some doctoral students at the University of Melbourne are doing research under the same topic, like TPACK, EEG, and problem solving assessment. We may work together to share technical tools and compare research results. We are here because we have strong belief in data and algorithm, but we should be cautious whether have too much faith in data and algorithm. In short, Prof. Kennedy said that the center has done fantastic and excellent work. At last, Prof. Kennedy, Tencent Education team, and Prof. YU explored trends of online teaching and future schools together.
