Sub-conference C2: Digital Classrooms, Mobile and Ubiquitous learning

Sub-conference C2:
Digital Classrooms, Mobile and Ubiquitous learning

With the popularity of wireless communications and mobile technologies, students have more opportunities to construct knowledge with their peers, teachers, and parents anytime and anywhere; therefore, it is expected that learning in the traditional face-to-face model and e-learning are changing to lifelong learning with society. Current learning theories
, such as social constructivist theory, collaborative and cooperative learning, and self-regulated learning have been applied to ubiquitous learning environment to develop seamless learning. To cater for the learning needs, the aims of our sub-conference are to discuss how to foster social learning in a community and promote seamless learning across formal and informal spaces supported by wireless communications, mobile technologies and sensing technologies. We hope that the discussion will yield expected results in terms of orienting the challenges of ubiquitous learning in education, and pedagogies in supporting knowledge construction, which in turn, will help open a new line of future research and create a ubiquitous learning environment conducive to learning. The sub-conference welcome all scholars interested in the research area from Asia-Pacific regions to participate and share research findings.

The scope of papers will cover but not be limited to:

1.  Theories of mobile and ubiquitous learning

2.  Research methods of mobile and ubiquitous learning

3.  System design and tool development of mobile and ubiquitous learning

4.  Learning activity design, pedagogical strategies and implementation of mobile and ubiquitous learning

5.  Innovative practices, learning outcome analysis and discussion of mobile and ubiquitous learning

6.  Analysis of the process of mobile and ubiquitous learners’ personalized and collaborative learning

7. Studies on creating seamless learning environments related to policy, curriculum instruction, professional development and student self-directed learning

8.    The concept, technology and infrastructure of smart classrooms

9.    Techniques and pedagogical strategies in integrating iPad/e-school bags into classroom teaching and learning

10.  Pedagogical strategies and implementation of the BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) technology model

11.  Learning outcome analysis and discussion of implementing the BYOD technology model

12.  Pedagogical strategies and implementation of “flipped classrooms”

13.  MOOCs course development
