The 35th International Conference on Data Engineering (ICDE) was held from 8th April to 12th April, 2019. ICDE is one of the three top class academic conferences, which is also the highest level conference in database research field by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). Associate Professor Yu LU, also the director of AI Lab of the Advanced Innovation Center for Future Education (AICFE) and big data research assistant Yang PIAN were invited to attend the conference to present their demo/short paper 'CogLearn: A Cognitive Graph-Oriented Online Learning System'.

The core idea of CogLearn is to build a tool for adaptive learning which intends to incorporate both the cognitive information of individual learners and the relations between pedagogical concepts into the traditional concept map based on the massive educational data. In the two Demo Session on 9th and 11th, Dr.Yu LU and Yang PIAN presented the system architecture and the algorithm design of CogLearn. They have also displayed a list of intelligent learning functions like learning obstacle diagnosis, learning path planning, etc.

After the demonstration of CogLearn, participants praised the work done by the AICFE in promoting the development of intelligent education. Many researchers mentioned that the concept of personalized learning path planning proposed by CogLearn is very important for learners. Besides, participants have proposed suggestions of function optimization for CogLearn, which will be a valuable reference for the next step of the research work.
Through ICDE, two AICFE researchers conducted academic exchanges with global peer researchers, and discussed the edge issues in database. Such communication can further promote the research progress in related fields. At the same time, through the system demonstration, it is also a good chance for center to show our latest research results, greatly encouraging more international academic exchange and cooperation in the field of computer science.
