Associate professor Antti Rasila visited Beijing Normal University on January 17, 2020 to communicate and discuss with researchers from Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (AI Lab) on Online Learning and Intelligent Tutoring System of Mathematics. Prof. Lu Yu, Director of AI Lab, received him. Prof. Rasila currently is an Associate Professor of Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, as a faculty member of the Guangdong Technion. He does research in Educational Technology in Mathematics. He is the coordinator of the Abacus Material Bank.
Prof. Rasila gave a detailed description of main functions of STACK (the System for Teaching and Assessment using a Computer algebra Kernel), an online assessment package for mathematics, and then gave examples on Abacus. Abacus is a material bank for STEM education based at Aalto University, Finland. Prof. Lu discussed how to generate mathematics dynamic short answer questions and related technical problems with him.
At last, Prof. Rasila highly recognized outstanding contributions made by AICFE in artificial intelligence in education, looking forward that both sides can increase interaction and communication in online mathematics education and automatic assessment.
