　　Call for Paper

　　(Extended Abstract and Full Paper)

　　

　　The capabilities of emerging technologies are expanding rapidly with theories, methodologies, and practices of technology-enhanced language learning (TELL) evolving reciprocally. This has brought forth new language teaching and learning phenomena. There is thus great interest around the world in the role of technologies in language education, including its potential to provide greater access, affordability, and personalization. The future of language learning in the ever-changing digital era needs to be constantly envisioned. To address future and current questions that have emerged alongside developments of emerging technologies, the second ICFULL conference (ICFULL 2023) will be held in Beijing from 29-31 May, 2023. ICFULL 2023 aims to involve scholars and practitioners to share and exchange their wisdom in exploring the potential of cutting-edge technologies in future language learning. It calls for original research on theories, research methods, and pedagogies in the field of TELL, particular on the topics of AI-supported language learning, personalized/adaptive learning, digital game-based learning, technology-supported self-directed learning, learning analytics in language learning, and assessment with emerging technologies, etc. It also welcomes design and development studies concerning the applications of emerging technologies in language learning. Ethical issues relating to TELL will also be addressed in ICFULL 2023 for a refined understanding of human-machine relationship. In a nutshell, ICFULL 2023 seeks to shed light on the current status and future trend of language learning empowered by technological innovations.

　　

The scope of interests includes but not limited to:

      •AI-supported Language Learning;

      •Adaptive/personalized learning;

      •Chatbots and language learning;

      •Corpus-based and data-driven learning;

      •Digital game-based language learning;

      •Language learning with augmented/virtual/mixed reality;

      •Language assessment with emerging technologies;

      •Technology-supported self-directed language learning;

      •Learning analytics in language learning;

      •Emerging language learning theories/practices/design and development models;

      •Ethical issues in emerging technology-supported language learning;

      •Positioning/discussion paper about future language learning

　　

　　In addition, the 2nd ICFULL 2023 conference will collaborate with GCCCE 2023 conference to call for papers for a special round table in memory of Prof. He Kekang. The topic for the round table is “The deep integration of technologies and pedagogies in K-12 Chinese and English Language Education”. Extended abstracts and full papers concerning this topic are also welcomed.

　　

　　Types of Presentations

 

　　The 2nd ICFULL 2023 conference features two types of online presentations.

　　•Oral presentation: the duration of a presentation is 20 minutes, including Q & A.

　　•Poster presentation: Posters contain images and information for audience’s view and presenters’ explanation. The poster session lasts one hour. Presenters should be present in the scheduled time within the poster session.

　　

　　Submission (Extended Abstract and Full Paper)

　　

　　A submitted abstract is restricted to 800-1000 English words. The due date of abstract submission is 15 January, 2023. Authors will receive the notification with reviewers’ comments by 3 February, 2023. Abstracts should be submitted in both MS Word and PDF formats online. Please sign up to the EasyChair system (https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=icfull2023) and upload your abstract following the instructions provided. Prior to submission, please read and follow the conference templates (PDF version/MS Word version) carefully. Submissions must not be published previously. All the submissions will be double-blind peer-reviewed. The review will focus on whether the work is original and is of good quality.

　　Full paper submissions based on the extended abstracts will be invited after the conference. The selected full papers will be recommended to Journal of China Computer-Assisted Language Learning (eISSN: 2748-3479, open access) for peer review and further publications once accepted by the journal.

     •Early-bird registration deadline: 31 March 2023
     •Author registration deadline: 30 April 2023

     •Full paper review due: 1 October, 2023
     •Full paper publication: before 1 May, 2024
